Last week in second grade, we were talking about the word huge.  One of my students was like: "Oh yea, like you know, Apple Top...it is huge!"  Would you have any idea what Apple Top is??  Well, neither did I...so I double checked and asked what he talking about.  His response was the same.  Later on, during tutoring he asked his sister what Apple Top wasin English.  He asked in Korean and just said Apple Top w/ a Korean accent.  It was soo funny!  Finally, his sister was like oh yea and then they asked if they could draw it for me - this was the result:
(Who would have thought?!  Eiffel Tower = Apple Top!  WOW!)
Later on, I said thank you in Korean and he and his said said that I had good sound when speaking Korean!  This made me feel quite proud of my 5 months in Korea!

After a long day of school, this is how Petra (the German teacher) and I feel!  FYI, we were waiting on our kids and took a super brief power nap while standing!

As the refugee crisis really started to explode here, facebook was buzzing with articles, videos, pictures, etc. of the situation. I read a lot. I saw a lot. I was moved. I was troubled. But what could I do? I had a three year old and one year old at home.  ... I could teach some German. But when?   ... I could donate clothes and other items that were needed. But that didn't seem like enough. ... I could give money. But I wanted something more tangible.  I would put my youngest to bed and during those days, she needed lots of TLC in order to get to sleep. 6. chair

Z is loving her new "chair"- no more laying around in the buggy for this little one. {unless of course she's napping} She loves looking around and taking it all in. I love being able to see her better this way and laugh together. Just today I got stopped at the grocery store by a woman that asked me if I knew how adoringly my baby was looking at me.  It was a strange, yet funny and sweet, experience...very un-Austrian.
