then and now

It's so wonderful not being pregnant anymore ... yet strange and a bit sad as well.  There are so many thoughts, emotions and feelings floating around these days.  This is such a special time that we are experiencing with our first baby.  However, I miss feeling those sweet little kicks.  I do not miss those uncomfortable stretches though or the continuous heartburn or feeling heavy.  I love being able to see, snuggle, smell, and love on my baby!  Felix and I still look at her and think, "Wow, she's ours!"

We feel extremely blessed with such a good baby who sleeps a few hours at night, nurses and then goes back to sleep and isn't too fussy during the day.  Yes, we do have our fussy moments, but that's to be expected with a baby, right?

We're loving watching her grow and become more alert with each passing day.  It's so fun seeing her facial expresses as she sleeps and those accidental smiles just make me want to melt.  I LOVE her baby noises while sleeping and nursing.  Her sleepy voice is one of my favorites!

Being a mom is so wonderful.  I look forward to many more wonderful and perhaps challenging days ahead!

As the refugee crisis really started to explode here, facebook was buzzing with articles, videos, pictures, etc. of the situation. I read a lot. I saw a lot. I was moved. I was troubled. But what could I do? I had a three year old and one year old at home.  ... I could teach some German. But when?   ... I could donate clothes and other items that were needed. But that didn't seem like enough. ... I could give money. But I wanted something more tangible.  I would put my youngest to bed and during those days, she needed lots of TLC in order to get to sleep. 6. chair

Z is loving her new "chair"- no more laying around in the buggy for this little one. {unless of course she's napping} She loves looking around and taking it all in. I love being able to see her better this way and laugh together. Just today I got stopped at the grocery store by a woman that asked me if I knew how adoringly my baby was looking at me.  It was a strange, yet funny and sweet, experience...very un-Austrian.
