finally friday!

Today was the royal wedding and I was excited to be able to watch it! Felix finds it a bit silly, but indulged my fairly tale side. At school, someone sent a link to watch the live broadcast, which I was able to enjoy only on the side, since I was at school! :) But I did get the kiss and was excited to go home and watch all the highlights on TV (luckily we currently have a free 6 month cable tv right now! :) hehe). I loved learning more about royals and how they do things. I loved seeing all the crazy hats...the one on the right has a to be a favorite:

A bit ridiculous, right? :) Makes me laugh....think it's heavy? What is it made out of? Here you can find more fun hats and fascinators as the little ones on headbands are called! Enjoy ...

My sister-in-law came over and watched several different highlights from various tv channels. It was fun having a girl to watch it with. We ended our time together by making this...I've become a big fan of risotto!

It was fun watching this huge event ... such a different life than any of us know! :)

  1. so how many people got knocked in the face with someone's crazy hat?! lol

wonder why Beckham got invited ... cuz of his soccer skills for his country? would be interesting to know how many people they actually would count as friends who were at the wedding ... and how long did they all have to sit there waiting for it to start - and how long did it take to get out - AND did they have assigned seating?!

As the refugee crisis really started to explode here, facebook was buzzing with articles, videos, pictures, etc. of the situation. I read a lot. I saw a lot. I was moved. I was troubled. But what could I do? I had a three year old and one year old at home.  ... I could teach some German. But when?   ... I could donate clothes and other items that were needed. But that didn't seem like enough. ... I could give money. But I wanted something more tangible.  I would put my youngest to bed and during those days, she needed lots of TLC in order to get to sleep. I kept thinking about the refugees and how t...

6. chair

Z is loving her new "chair"- no more laying around in the buggy for this little one. {unless of course she's napping} She loves looking around and taking it all in. I love being able to see her better this way and laugh together. Just today I got stopped at the grocery store by a woman that asked me if I knew how adoringly my baby was looking at me.  It was a strange, yet funny and sweet, experience...very un-Austrian.
