Grace in Small Things # 33

- I woke up this morning to birds singing, what a wonderful sound!

- The kids had their Easter concert today and it was so precious hearing their voices praise God, rejoice in Christ's resurrection and proclaim the Good News! Check out Psalm 8.

- In 1st grade, we were coloring a picture and talking about Easter and how Jesus loves us so much that He died for us and Daniel looks up and says, "So, Jesus is our superhero!" It was soo cool to hear him say that. I'm not sure that his family is saved, so Lord willing his time at VCS will and already is bringing him closer to God!

- Thursday nights is old movie night, one of the best nights of the week! Tonight we watched The Torn Curtain (an Alfred Hitchcock) ... such a good movie! We also make dinner together and tonight we made enchiladas - thanks Mom for a great recipe!!!

- It was amazingly warm today - it really does feel like spring! I'm so thankful for a day filled with sun and warmth!!

Welcoming strangers into my home

For 16 weeks now, we have had a young refugee couple from Syria living with us. They have been married a little over a year and for the majority of that time have been separated from each other, since he made the journey to Austria alone and got everything in order so that she could come legally. Let me backtrack a bit and tell you how it all started. As the refugee crisis really started to explode here, facebook was buzzing with articles, videos, pictures, etc. of the situation. I read a lot. I saw a lot. I was moved. I was troubled. But what could I do? I had a three year old and one year old at home. ... I could teach some German. But when? ... I could donate clothes and other items that were needed. But that didn't seem like enough. ... I could give money. But I wanted something more tangible. I would put my youngest to bed and during those days, she needed lots of TLC in order to get to sleep. I kept thinking about the refugees and how t...

who know you could buy cheerios here ... I didn't! for almost $4!!! yikes!

6. chair

Z is loving her new "chair"- no more laying around in the buggy for this little one. {unless of course she's napping} She loves looking around and taking it all in. I love being able to see her better this way and laugh together. Just today I got stopped at the grocery store by a woman that asked me if I knew how adoringly my baby was looking at me. It was a strange, yet funny and sweet, experience...very un-Austrian.
