22nd day of GST

Today I'm going to do something different...instead of just listing them, I'm going to put them in a paragraph and you have to read into the text the five things I am thankful for!  Have fun :D

It was a beautiful day today filled with sunshine, but a biting wind.  Unfortunately, I was wearing the wrong attire for the weather and felt really cold this morning.  However, everything worked like clockwork in getting to church.  I was on time again - two weeks in a row! YAH!!  I came home fairly prompt after church, because I wasn't feeling super.  I layed down for a while and hoped that would help me feel better.  It did help a bit, I am still feeling a little under the weather, but oh well.  While I was relaxing with my laptop, I got a message from a friend asking me if I wanted to come over and watch Horton Hears a Who.  Thankfully, I got reminded while watching it that there is a deadline for something this week that I needed to take care of - big sigh of relief here!  We barely finished the movie and then it was time to head out to a new staff dinner.  I was able to eat a new meal for me that was super delicious!! And I got some new tips about support raising - always a good to get those.... Now my weekend is coming to a close, but I'm so glad I had a few days to relax and get things done - it was an eventful, but very productive weekend!!!   Now it's about time to hit the sack and start a new week!  Hope you all have a great one!

Welcoming strangers into my home

For 16 weeks now, we have had a young refugee couple from Syria living with us. As the refugee crisis really started to explode here, facebook was buzzing with articles, videos, pictures, etc. of the situation. I read a lot. I saw a lot. I was moved. I was troubled. But what could I do? I had a three year old and one year old at home.  ... I could teach some German. But when?   ... I could donate clothes and other items that were needed. But that didn't seem like enough. ... I could give money. But I wanted something more tangible.  I would put my youngest to bed and during those days, she needed lots of TLC in order to get to sleep. I kept thinking about the refugees and how t...

6. chair

Z is loving her new "chair"- no more laying around in the buggy for this little one. {unless of course she's napping} She loves looking around and taking it all in. I love being able to see her better this way and laugh together. Just today I got stopped at the grocery store by a woman that asked me if I knew how adoringly my baby was looking at me.  It was a strange, yet funny and sweet, experience...very un-Austrian.
