Someone is 3 months!

I can't believe Zoey has been a part of our family for three whole months!  The time is just whizzing by.  She's so fun and brings many smiles and laughs into our home.  This month she's learned to play with various sounds and "talk" to you with cooes and "grr".  She's able to entertain herself for a good amount of time.  She's been taking super short naps {power naps ... annoying because I can't get much done during that time}.  She's just starting to laugh out loud a bit...it's so fun!  Smiles are given every day quite often {they make me melt a bit inside}.  She sleeps 5-7 hours when she first goes to bed {so very nice, if only I would learn to go to bed earlier though}.  That little bald spot that babies have is still quite present on the back of her head.  Rolling over from her tummy to her back happens on occasion {when she feels like doing it} and back to tummy has only happened a few times.  Her neck though is super strong...

2 months

So this is a bit late, but most have seen Z's picture on facebook for her 2nd month.  She has learned so much {again}! :) She can smile and laugh at you and in response to you.  She's cooing and squealing more and more.  Very slowly, she's learning to grab things - a favorite is hair while fussing from hunger {not to fun for this mama}.  She has learned to grab and pull a thing that plays music in her jungle gym.  So fun!  She can roll onto her right side and tries to roll onto her tummy from there, but hasn't done it yet.  Her left side does not interest her quite as much, so I hung her music thingie on that side to get her going that way as well.  Sneaky, huh?  {Thanks, Moms, for the tip!} This weekend we are taking our first little trip away.  Friday is a holiday so we had out tomorrow!  We'll be staying near this beautiful city: source Sadly, it's supposed to be quite cold and perhaps even snow this weekend.  We ...

A Fall Tradition

For the past few years, we've visited an Apfelhof (apple orchard) with our church family.  The first year we went, Felix and I were just dating, sadly the next year we couldn't go, last year we went as a married couple and this year we went as a family! It was a beautiful, warm day.  Zoey did a great job being outside for most of the day.  She actually slept a lot afterwards ... all that fresh air. :)  We got to pick apples, drink fresh pressed apple juice, eat potatoes from the farmer's field, and pick out a pumpkin and butternut squash (recipe ideas are welcome - I know I want to make pumpkin soup).  I love going and being out in the country and just having a day with our church family.  It was a wonderful, fun, fall day!  I love that going there has become a fall tradition for us. To see more pictures, hop over here and check out another blog post about the day.

already a month

I can't believe she's already a month old (plus a few days - I'm a tad bit late, oops)!  We've been enjoying her so very much!  Here's what she's been doing: ~ she's found her voice and has started cooing {it's so sweet} ~ ~ she can slowly start to follow things or people with her eyes ~ ~ she's smiling more intentionally and has this great really open mouth smile/laugh ~ ~ she's getting better at holding her head up ~ ~ she loves looking around and taking everything in ~ ~ she enjoys a pacifier or sucking on her hand if she doesn't get one ~ ~ she is awake a few more hours in the day than at the beginning ~ ~ she loves playing with her tongue and sticking it in and out {it's soo cute!} ~ ~ she's got baby acne just like her mommy had {sad that I passed that on} ~

mail

Look who got her first letter in the mail the other day: We are loving our little baby girl and watching her grow.

then and now

It's so wonderful not being pregnant anymore ... yet strange and a bit sad as well.  There are so many thoughts, emotions and feelings floating around these days.  This is such a special time that we are experiencing with our first baby.  However, I miss feeling those sweet little kicks.  I do not miss those uncomfortable stretches though or the continuous heartburn or feeling heavy.  I love being able to see, snuggle, smell, and love on my baby!  Felix and I still look at her and think, "Wow, she's ours!"  We feel extremely blessed with such a good baby who sleeps a few hours at night, nurses and then goes back to sleep and isn't too fussy during the day.  Yes, we do have our fussy moments, but that's to be expected with a baby, right? We're loving watching her grow and become more alert with each passing day.  It's so fun seeing her facial expresses as she sleeps and those accidental smiles just make me want to melt.  I LOVE her ...
