late

Z is now 13 months!  So fun to watch her get more and more stable on her legs and try to do more!  Not much longer now and she'll be running all over the place ... gulp ... she can take all the time she wants until that happens! :) She's been starting to make some animal sounds when we make them.  She reaches out to people, even if we don't know them super well {or at all, at church we met a new gal and she just reached out for her and wanted to be held by her and then today we were at a baby party and she reached for almost anybody to walk with her.  Shy she is not!}.  We're also seeing a stubborn side come out.  We're praying for wisdom to discipline her and teach her to obey. We love you so much, sweet girl!  We are soooo very thankful to have you and blessed to call you our treasure from the Lord!

a fun year!

Can a year already be gone?  At times, it feels like forever ago that she was such a tiny baby and other times, it seems like last week.  It has been so fascinating watching her grow and learn new things.  I love observing her new skills and habits.  We are truly blessed with a very happy and easy going baby.  I tell hubby all the time that we are so blessed...hope baby #2 will be like that whenever we have another one.  She is our little sunshine and such a delight! The past year may not have always been easy, but it has been so rewarding and I wouldn't change it for anything.  I love being Z's mama and spending every day with her.  Being a mom is truly the best job and so rewarding {also hard and tiring, just a side note though}.  I'm learning what it means to love sacrificially and unconditionally, but I still have so much more to learn along the way.  Her actual birthday was on Tuesday, but we had a family party on Sunday.  ...

10 Months

Baby Z is ten months today.  She's moving into toddlerhood and out of babyness...boo hoo....She's starting to have her own little will and get angry when things don't go her way.  She's realized she can make us laugh.  She loves watching little kids and squeals with delight.  Stroller rides are a favorite and also nice for a little snooze at times.  Cheerios are another favorite {she's a great eater, just not a good drinker}.  Sleeping through the night is almost an everyday occurrence {PTL!}!  Her sleeping postions are always quite amusing...you never know how you will find her.  She's incredibly curious and loves getting into things {empty boxes, laundry baskets, bags, etc is highly entertaining}.  If a cellphone or computer are somewhere near her, she doesn't waste any time getting to them.  She has so much energy.  Naps are kept short, often a half hour, if I'm lucky an hour.  I'm so thankful for this sweet, little, energ...

already?

How can my baby already be half a year?  Time is flying by.  We're enjoy the days with our little sunshine.  She's so smiley and happy.  I love it.  Don't get wrong though, not every day is a walk in the park ... some days naps don't want to be taken, nothing seems to be right, clothes get changed multiple times due to spit-up or worse ... but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  Being Baby Z's mama is the best!  I love how her face lights up when she sees her daddy or me.  I love hearing her laugh and talk.  I love watching her learn new things!  So precious!! So I made this bread yesterday: so good, click here for the recipe

another month

---I am afraid it's happened again--- ---somehow blogging has taken a backseat in my life--- ---for this I apologize--- ---maybe a New Year's resolution should be to blog more--- ---anyways, here is what Baby Z has been up to--- We have had five wonderful months together!  Hard to believe it's already been that long!   It is truly amazing how much she has learned and is able to do.   Her smiles and laughs brighten our days!  I love being greeted in the morning with a huge smile and her little baby talk.  Being a mommy is truly wonderful {and a bit tiring}.  I have also been doing a bit of baking these days.  I decided to try to just bake bread from now on and not buy it...we'll see if this turns out to be cheaper or not.  I think it should.  Here is the link for the yummy bread I've been making {http://simplysogood.blogspot.co.at/2010/03/crusty-bread.html} We had friends over for dessert the other night an...

Four months and what's been happening here

Sorry once again for being so MIA ... but I have a really cute reason for it. Z is growing and growing and learning lots and lots!  It's so fun to see her learn new things.  All the sudden she can master things!  Truly amazing!  On Sunday, we had the privilege of my dad being able to do her baby dedication.  It was such a sweet time together.  I'm so thankful that my parents live so close that they hop on over for a weekend and experience special events with us.  I wish that were the case for the rest of the family...one day we'll all be together again.  Can't wait for that family reunion {whether mountains or beach, both will be wonderful - that's been discussed these past few days}!! Hubby has been working lots and performing with the choir at various Christmas events.  I've missed having him around, but having time to myself has been a little nice, too.  He's been good at trying to make up for it though and coming home earlier o...

Someone is 3 months!

I can't believe Zoey has been a part of our family for three whole months!  The time is just whizzing by.  She's so fun and brings many smiles and laughs into our home.  This month she's learned to play with various sounds and "talk" to you with cooes and "grr".  She's able to entertain herself for a good amount of time.  She's been taking super short naps {power naps ... annoying because I can't get much done during that time}.  She's just starting to laugh out loud a bit...it's so fun!  Smiles are given every day quite often {they make me melt a bit inside}.  She sleeps 5-7 hours when she first goes to bed {so very nice, if only I would learn to go to bed earlier though}.  That little bald spot that babies have is still quite present on the back of her head.  Rolling over from her tummy to her back happens on occasion {when she feels like doing it} and back to tummy has only happened a few times.  Her neck though is super strong...

2 months

So this is a bit late, but most have seen Z's picture on facebook for her 2nd month.  She has learned so much {again}! :) She can smile and laugh at you and in response to you.  She's cooing and squealing more and more.  Very slowly, she's learning to grab things - a favorite is hair while fussing from hunger {not to fun for this mama}.  She has learned to grab and pull a thing that plays music in her jungle gym.  So fun!  She can roll onto her right side and tries to roll onto her tummy from there, but hasn't done it yet.  Her left side does not interest her quite as much, so I hung her music thingie on that side to get her going that way as well.  Sneaky, huh?  {Thanks, Moms, for the tip!} This weekend we are taking our first little trip away.  Friday is a holiday so we had out tomorrow!  We'll be staying near this beautiful city: source Sadly, it's supposed to be quite cold and perhaps even snow this weekend.  We ...

already a month

I can't believe she's already a month old (plus a few days - I'm a tad bit late, oops)!  We've been enjoying her so very much!  Here's what she's been doing: ~ she's found her voice and has started cooing {it's so sweet} ~ ~ she can slowly start to follow things or people with her eyes ~ ~ she's smiling more intentionally and has this great really open mouth smile/laugh ~ ~ she's getting better at holding her head up ~ ~ she loves looking around and taking everything in ~ ~ she enjoys a pacifier or sucking on her hand if she doesn't get one ~ ~ she is awake a few more hours in the day than at the beginning ~ ~ she loves playing with her tongue and sticking it in and out {it's soo cute!} ~ ~ she's got baby acne just like her mommy had {sad that I passed that on} ~

then and now

It's so wonderful not being pregnant anymore ... yet strange and a bit sad as well.  There are so many thoughts, emotions and feelings floating around these days.  This is such a special time that we are experiencing with our first baby.  However, I miss feeling those sweet little kicks.  I do not miss those uncomfortable stretches though or the continuous heartburn or feeling heavy.  I love being able to see, snuggle, smell, and love on my baby!  Felix and I still look at her and think, "Wow, she's ours!"  We feel extremely blessed with such a good baby who sleeps a few hours at night, nurses and then goes back to sleep and isn't too fussy during the day.  Yes, we do have our fussy moments, but that's to be expected with a baby, right? We're loving watching her grow and become more alert with each passing day.  It's so fun seeing her facial expresses as she sleeps and those accidental smiles just make me want to melt.  I LOVE her ...

Maternity pics

We were able to go to the park with our friend and take some maternity pics several weeks ago.  We had a wonderful time and the weather could not have been more perfect.  I can't believe that very soon we'll get to meet our little girl!  The due date is exactly one week away.  We'll see when she actually decides to come!!!  These past few weeks have gone by fairly quickly, now it seems to be slowing down as it comes to the actual waiting for baby part.  It's hard not to be to anxious, excited and nervous.  I'm working on trusting completely in the Lord and waiting for His perfect timing ...
